A VENTURE of FAITH & DISCOVERY

Welcome to our adventure as we share our journey through words and pictures, while we travel through Southern China & Beijing. We'll be biking through villages and experiencing rural life & culture, worshiping with Chinese Christians, hiking the Great Wall, touring the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, participating in service projects, and so much more.

Please be encouraged to scroll through the posts and pictures to discover what the team is experiencing. Want to know what the team may be up to on a given date? Anna's Post Trip Reflection

Five things I won't forget
1. Shepherd's Field (Robert)
2. Evening meetings with the kids
3. Ben coming out of his shell
4. Meeting great adult friends (all of them)
5. BCIS…Great experience

How I saw God at work through our trip:
William…Faith, hope, love, baptism etc…The Holy Spirit at work.

Kris' Post Trip Reflection

Five things I won't forget:
1. Kennedy singing "Jesus Loves Me"
2. How gracious the farmers, brick makers & bottle makers were giving tours of their work
3. The huge line of Chinese waiting to get in to worship
4. All the BCIS students & the bond they had with our children
5. William and his faith

How I saw God at work through our trip:
There were countless ways I was able to see God. From the safe & loving environment for children who would otherwise be unwanted at Shepherd's Field to Kennedy's sweet voice singing praise to Jesus, to being with BCIS students in church and hearing them sing worship songs. I feel so blessed to have been able to witness the Holy Spirit move a non-believer to a believer while we were there. We could feel God's presence every stop of the way during our trip.

Dani's Post Trip Reflection

Five things I won't forget:
1. William being saved
2. Singing "The Wheels on the Bus" at Shepherd's Field to a baby on my lap.
3. Climbing the Great Wall
4. Biking thru the villages and the love we were shown
5. Meeting all the wonderful BCIS students and teachers
6. Home visit

How I saw God at work through our trip:
Hope, hope for change. I saw the curiosity of children being used by God in the saving of the soul of a young man and forever be a child of God.

Nicole's Post Trip Reflection

Five things I won't forget:
1. The people, their kindness, joy and contentment with their situation
2. Shepherd's Field – the children, the caregivers, the love that was expressed, the peace about how they are cared for.
3. Great Wall – its' immensity, intricacy and fortitude. The majesty of it winding over the North ridge.
4. The countryside of Guangdong Province. The quiet, the hospitality & simplicity of their way of life.
5. Christianity in China – we have religious freedom, they do not but God works miracles despite attempts to suppress.

How I saw God at work through our trip:
The people have an immense joy despite their hard, simple lives, perhaps somehow they see God in the moment rather than complaining and striving for something different, like I do. Our visit to our sponsored family. God working thru Mr. He's church to love & support him,  God placed us in his home to pray for & encourage him. Shepherd's Field – we are called to care for orphans & widows, but how tangible are our actions. I felt such peace, only provided by completely trusting the Almighty, that the founders of SF are completely under the wing of God. Visiting with the students from BCIS and our interpreters there was definitely a curiosity about Christianity by some and we definitely expressed our beliefs thru our actions and activities, conversations and passion for our faith.

Charles' Post Trip Reflection

Five things I won't forget:
1. William witness to William
2. Walking the Great Wall
3. The warm reception at the High School in Kai Ping
4. Smiles of villagers & farmers as we biked the countryside
5. Worship X2! Especially the visiting choir

How I saw God at work through our trip:
Through the prayers of all of the super kids on the trip, what a testimony to their faith! Watching the Spirit at work in the interaction between William and William.

Jake's Post Trip Reflection

Five things I won't forget:
1. BCIS kids – William becoming Christian
2. Great Wall
3. Shepherd's Field
4. The shower that had a toilet in it
5. The happiness that the kids in the villages got when we gave them toys

How I saw God at work through our trip:
I feel that God was really working hard to get the BCIS kids to think about Christianity by using us as examples, he helped us be kind and compassionate to others and I feel like it really got the BCIS kids thinking about God.

Mel's Post Trip Reflection

Five things I won't forget:
1. William
2. Shepherd's Field
3. Getting to know classmates
4. BCIS
5. Church

How I saw God at work through our trip:
God put us there to show Will God and William accepted God into his life. The things he said changed my thoughts on things and will probably change my life for a good amount of time and hopefully forever.
